How Do You Do It ALL?

In addition to our work at A Better Place Consulting and the time I spend with my kids, you may also know that I also run the non-profit Pawssible. With so much going on, people often ask me how I “do it all.”

This is an incredible question that spurs so many other questions, right? What does it even mean? What is doing it all? What is all? Is this a compliment? Or is this a suggestion that I should be doing less?

I have stopped trying to decipher the code and have looked deep into what this mea…

My Fight with MileageIQ

Last year I met with both my Business Advisor and my Accountant in one week. Both recommended that rather than tracking my company’s mileage in my current fashion that I download MileageIQ or any mileage tracking app and use that to track my drives and trips. I explained that I am a granola person and that I do not use my data on my phone and I never have location turned on so this app would not work for me. I occasionally researched apps to download and even tried a few but found that I kept ru…

How to Break Your Business Curse

So anyone who knows how much I love sports could guess I would find some way to work the Cub’s World Series win into a business blog. And that is exactly what I am going to do.
If you watched the series you know that the win came as a result of hard work, not giving up, and having support. I will resist the opportunity to write a second blog titled “The Possible Consequences of Micro Management” in relation to the series but instead focus on an extremely progressive and “patient” individual, Th…

October STAR Program Award, Cindy Stillwell

October STAR Award Recipient

Cindy Stillwell

A Better Place Consulting is proud to honor Cindy Stillwell as October's STAR. Cindy is the founder and owner of Core Health Thermography and Wellness in Troy, Virginia. As many of you may know I myself dealt with cancer in October of 2013 and suffered a miscarriage. It was very unlikely that we would be able to conceive again. I began working with Cindy last year in hopes of overcoming the obstacles that my doctors told me would prevent another chil…

Make it REAL

ABPC what is your 'real'
One of the keys to success is to find something that you not only excel at but that you also enjoy doing.
But no matter how much you enjoy doing it, the “How” and the “Why” of your actions and journey can dictate whether or not you continue to find motivation and inspiration to continue doing the best job you can.

The clarity in knowing where your motivation comes from can be key when starting out in a company or starting your own company. Many professionals find themselves lost in the detail…

Now is a great time to reflect on those 2016 goals that you set out to do and see which ones are still relevant? Completed? Unfinished? Started? Why Apples Make The Best Referrals

I am often asked when networking or speaking to people about A Better Place Consulting,
“Who is a good referral for you?” or “Who’s your best referral?”
I love when someone tells me “anyone”. I love their confidence and excitement to work with anyone but after years in sales and corporate jobs I can honestly say that it is not best idea to focus on working with “anyone”.

Why is that? Because not everyone in the world makes for the best client, for one reason or another. If I am selling bras then…

It Matters to That One

This story has been around for ages but I still find such inspiration from the young boy's dedication and conviction to create a better place and a better opportunity for as many individuals as he could impact. Seemed so silly to some but for me it resonated and became so powerful that it is the foundation that I have built my logo, my brand, and my business around. Please enjoy, and continue to strike to make a difference to "One" each and every day!
Once upon a time, there was an old man wh…

Conquer Your Great White Shark

As some of you know, my business logo, a starfish, is based on the story of the little boy rescuing starfish who had washed up on the beach one by one.
That applied to how I wanted to run my business. Focus on each individual client and the impact we could make with them and hoping that by making their world a better place, they would then continue that movement and make the world a better place.

Recently I was referred to a client who had the potential to meet our company’s financial goal for th…
