In 2014, A Better Place Consulting (ABPC) formed to meet the growing demand for services focused on improved quality of work and life. Under the careful development and guidance of Bunny Sumner Young, A Better Place uses innovative research-based approaches to professional environments to increase employee productivity and retention.
Bunny Sumner Young, MA, QMHP
Following an undergraduate research focus on internationally-recognized alternative therapies and treatment methods, such as canine therapy and sensory stimulation, Bunny became a qualified mental health professional and certified yoga instructor. She continued her education and received her Master’s Degree in Counseling and Psychology with a concentration in Equine Assisted Mental Health. She recognized the dissatisfaction in organizations and employees and founded A Better Place to empower and educate businesses and organizations about cultivating a positive work environment which leads to employee and client retention. In addition she also teaches cultural sensitivity to law enforcement, military, and correctional officers. Bunny enjoys consulting with both individual business owners and Corporations, such as Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems and several Chamber of Commerces. After being diagnosed with a heart condition at a young age and depending on a service dog for a higher quality of life, Bunny emphasizes inclusion and sensitivity for all populations in her work while keeping the process engaging and meaningful. She volunteers with Dreamcatcher's Therapeutic Riding, the Alzheimer’s Association, March of Dimes and served as the Chair of Louisa Lead Share, an active member of TRIAD, on the Extraordinary Women's Exchange Committee, Chairwoman for Pawssible Service Dog Connection and a Member of the Hanover Council on Aging. She holds several certifications and distinctions including equine specialist in mental health, yoga, crisis intervention, diverse communication techniques, and organizational leadership and management.
